Despite its minimalist approach in design and weight, the Bosch GTS1031 10-Inch Portable Jobsite Table Saw manages to retain all the right stuff for a solid table saw: power, precision and durability. The 10-inch saw blade seems to be a favorite in this class of portable job-site table saws and the GTS1031 doesn’t deviate from the course there. This table saw does go the extra mile in many other areas however.

For starters the GTS1031 comes with an 18 inch max rip size vs the 16 inch by many of its closest competitors (the Dewalt DW745 being it’s closest match). And while that may not seem
like much, those two inches may be the difference between a project you can handle and one you need to outsource if the materials don’t cut well on your table.
Another notable feature is the on-tool storage. This is a shared feature with other Bosch table saws but nonetheless worth mentioning. The GTS1031 stores the rip fence, Smart Guard, miter gauge, push stick and wrenches under the table. The manufacturer points out that this is for protection during transport and storage. More than the protection it offers, I find it just plain useful to have a storage location that gives me access when and where I need the tools for the job. The alternative is placing the table saw related tools on the shelf alongside my table saw and hope that it somehow doesn’t get misplaced by myself or by a good intentioned housecleaning wife (or garage cleaning).
The tool storage is just one benefit of the no-nonsense design of the table saw. As a mobile saw the manufacturer must provide all of the power possible while removing excess weight. We see this played perfectly with the Bosch GTS1031 in the absence of an enclosed outer shell thereby leaving room for tool storage as well as table saw cleaning and maintenance. As you can see from the image, this table saw is no more than the engine attached to a cutting plane. And you’ll be impress with the motor they decided to provide. It has 4.0 HP, 15 amp, and an impressive 5000 RPM motor all with just enough light weight metal to keep it firmly in place.

CONSUMER REVIEWS AND DRAWBACKS
Users of the Bosch GTS1031 had many positive things to say about the table saw but there was a trend in mentionning a few features in particular. First of all, everyone is impressed with its overall size and weight and attest to its ability to be easily handled by a single user. Multiple users noted how easily it fit in their vehicle such as the back seat of a Toyota sedan or the back seat floor even in a dodge ram. Nearly every reviewer made note of the handiness of the on-tool storage and spoke of the design insight of the table saw there. The other recurring comment is regarding the no-assembly construction of the table saw. “Set up” seemed to take less than 10 or 15 minutes which likely included removing it from the box since the only “assembly” on the GTS1031 are the extra tools such as the guard fence. This no-setup praise also takes into account the trueness of the table saw out of the box. It comes true to a 90 and 45 degree angle for nearly everyone and did not leave burn marks. Notes have been made about how the miter gauge is not sturdy but that is expected from a mobile saw and investing in an aftermarket miter gauge like an Incra helps with most table saws. Additionally the fence is touted as firm and easily usable. The only other poor note about the GTS1031 table saw is that its cord distance is short enough to be an issue if tugged on. Since I’m likely to need an extension cord anyway, I don’t mind this little piece of information one bit.
